Abstract/Contents:"Best management practices (BMPs) are often used in environmental sustainability as a means to encourage practitioners to improve their overall environmental performance in an economically feasible manner. Sustainability BMPs are a common way that golf industry bodies encourage sustainability improvements. However, few studies have attempted to quantify BMP adoption in golf course management and then analyze if the adoption of BMP's is actually driving sustainability improvements. In this study, we surveyed golf courses across four resource use categories (water, energy, pesticide, and fertilizer) asking them both about actual levels of resource consumption and the adoption of resource use efficiency BMPs within each resource use category. We then analyze whether high adoption of resource use BMPs leads to more efficient resource use."
