Abstract/Contents: | "A total of 37 goosegrass (Eleusine indica) populations have been submitted to the Herbicide Resistance Diagnostic Lab (http://resistancelab.org) in 2020 and 2021, largely from golf courses where herbicide resistance was suspected. Persons submitted 15 to 20 tillering plants that were then divided into 10 to 12 single tillers in 10 cm by 30 cm rectangular pots filled with Marvyn sandy loam soil. Plants were allowed to acclimate for two weeks then separate pots were treated with one of the following treatments: sulfentrazone 0.28 kg/ha, oxadiazon 1.12 kg/ha, foramsulfuron 0.03 kg/ha, sethoxydim 0.21 kg/ha, metribuzin 0.56 kg/ha, prodiamine 1 micromolar solution of hydroponics, and an untreated treatment. All post treatments were applied at 280 L/ha with 0.25% non-ionic surfactant containing adjuvant. Of the populations evaluated, seven were resistant to foramsulfuron, two were resistant to prodiamine, two were resistant to sulfentrazone, ten were resistant to oxadiazon, and three were resistant to sethoxydim. All were susceptible to metribuzin. Resistant goosegrass populations were submitted from golf courses, athletic fields, or non-residential turfgrass in Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina, North Carolina, Florida, Georgia, and Hawaii." |
