Abstract/Contents:"A goosegrass (Eleusine indica) population collected from a golf course putting green surround was evaluated for possible resistance to preemergence herbicides. Initial evaluation of field collected suspected resistant (R) and known susceptible (S) populations in hydroponics with dithiopyr or prodiamine at 0.1 uM revealed different phenotypic responses between R and S populations. Greenhouse preemergence rate titration screens of R and S populations indicates that S is controlled at a lower rate than R for both dithiopyr and prodiamine. Further evaluation of oryzalin and pendimethalin response confirmed R resistance to these herbicides. Sequencing of the alphatubulin gene revealed at Leu-136-Phe substitution which has been associated with mitotic inhibitor resistance in Setaria viridis. This is the first report of an amino acid substitution at Leu-136 being associated with resistance to dithiopyr."
