Abstract/Contents: | "The goal of the North Carolina Storm Drain Stenciling project is to inform the public about nonpoint source pollution, its impacts on coastal waters and methods to reduce such pollution. Many people do not realize that materials such as motor oil, paints, cigarette butts and yard wastes dumped into a storm drain do not go to a treatment plant, but into creeks, streams, coast-bound rivers and, in some areas, directly into sounds or the ocean." A chart is provided listing the North Carolina cities participating in storm drain stenciling.
