Abstract/Contents:Provides information on pesticide mobility and persistance in turfgrass. "A system has been developed at North Carolina State University to rank pesticides according to their potential for leaching into groundwater. This ranking system, called the Pesticide Leaching Potential (PLP), uses measures of mobility and persistence along with application rates to come up with a number on the scale of 1 to 100. The higher the number, the greater the risk of leaching onto groundwater." Three tables are given which rank commonly used pesticides in turfgrass according to their relative ranking in the PLP index. "More information on the ranking system can be found in the SoilFacts publication entitled `Protecting Groundwater in North Carolina: A Pesticide and Soil Ranking System.'
