Abstract/Contents: | "In summarizing it appears to me for a beginning superintendent to have any measurable amount of success, he/she-to some degree-should: (1) have a supervisor(s) who: a) will provide a budget that allows one to hire competent staff and the purchase of necessary equipment; b) is supportive, understanding; c) leaves the course accountability in your hands; d) can accurately relate to your concerns and responsibilities; 2) have a staff that is: a) conscientious; b) supportive of your philosophy; c) flexible with some mechanical aptitudes; d) enjoyable to be around and work with...; 3) be professional by supporting your local, state and national organizations; b) be firm, communicative, consistent and fair to all your staff; c) present a good appearance; d) be enthusiastic and take pride in the course; e) have an accessible network of experienced peers; f) have short and long range goals; g) have the desire to constantly improve; h) be aware of communications and public relations; 4) have a wife who is supportive, understanding and patience [patient]." |
