| Abstract/Contents: | Discusses the physical, chemical and biological componenets of soil. Relates the basic components of soil and how soil holds and releases nutrients. Gives information on the four key elements; nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium and sulfur. The way in which these elements are held in the soil, the form taken up by the plant, forms that should be used in application and how it affects plant growth is related. Nitrogen loss mechanisms such as leaching, dentrification, and volatilization are also discussed. |
