Abstract/Contents: | "St. Augustinegrass (Stenotaphrum secundatum) is sensitive to some common postemergence herbicides. Recognition, trifloxysulfuron + metcamifen, is a safened formulation of trifloxysulfuron for use in St. Augustinegrass. Tank mixes of Recognition and triclopyr (Turflon Ester Ultra), when applied on a 35-day interval, successfully controlled dollarweed (Hydrocotyle spp.) in 3 separate trials, with initiation timings in early summer, late summer, and fall of 2021. Tank mixes of Recognition and fluazifop (Fusilade II), when applied on a 28-day interval, successfully controlled common bermudagrass (Cynodon dactylon) with minimal St. Augustinegrass injury in 2021 and 2022. Tank mixes of Recognition and fluazifop (+ triclopyr), when applied on a 29-day interval, controlled dallisgrass (Paspalum dilatatum) greater than commercial standards in 2022. Tank mixes of Recognition and fluazifop, applied on a 28-day interval, induced minimal St. Augustinegrass injury, even when applied at 3x the labeled rate. Recognition is safe for use in St. Augustinegrass and when combined with other postemergence herbicides provides control of dollarweed, dallisgrass, and common bermudagrass." |
