Abstract/Contents:"American Buffalograss (Bouteloua dactyloides Synonym Buchloe dactyloides) is a warm-season perennial stoloniferous grass native to south central Canada through the north, central and southern plains region of the US into Mexico. As a turfgrass, buffalograss is a very specialized turfgrass, propagated by plugs, stolons, sod, and where appropriate, seed. Do to the specialized used and limited production of buffalograsses, architects, professional installers, and consumers frequently struggle in sourcing buffalograss materials for planting. A 2015 national source guide for buffalograss sod, plugs and seed had been created by the authors, but this guide was found to be obsolete. The objective of this research was to create a new US national source guide for planting stocks of buffalograss and to elucidate changes and trends compared to the prior survey. In 2022 prospective producers and sources were located based on the 2015 source guide, prior Turfgrass Producers International member directors, the Turfgrass Producers of Texas membership list and use of various search engines to locate sources advertised on the internet. From the short list of identified prospective sources, producers and sources were surveyed by email and telephone call to determine cultivars or trademarked lines offered for sale as well as the location and contact information of the source for use in the directory. The information garnered was compiled into a revised version of the directory and is in final review at this time in summer of 2022. This poster will discuss the total number of cultivars in production, number of producers, type of source material available for purchase, states of production or distribution will be discussed as well as the changes that occurred in these parameters since the survey of sources conducted in 2015."
