Abstract/Contents:"Mainstream cricket in New Zealand needs help if it is not to slide from the present unsatisfactory turf management into an even more disastrous regime based on synthetic surfaces. This help must originate from two sources; firstly, from those able to formulate a set of minimum standards for the performance of turf pitches at perhaps five different levels (test, first class and Ubix Cup, Shell Cup and international one-day, senior club, and lower grade club). Secondly, from those able to suggest and try new procedures for the attainment of the standards."
