Abstract/Contents:Trials were conducted in 1991 of turfed sand profiles incorporating mesh reinforcement materials at Moonee Valley Racing Club in Melbourne, Australia. "These trials have demonstrated that high infiltration rate sands in combination with mesh elements can produce very good conditions for racing. It is clear that the construction profile has a far greater impact in the performance of the surface than does the choice of grass species."
