| Abstract/Contents: | "Many of the issues raised here exhibit a high degree of interrelationship. To consider one area of management and ignore another is the only recipe that will have a consistent result, that result being disaster. It is not possible to completely transfer the management of one course to another. Soil conditions and climate vary too greatly, but there is no reason why applicable knowledge cannot be transferred and implemented where appropriate. Professional management in the future will require racecourse managers to develop annual and forward planning strategies. It is only by developing long term plans that one can estimate the impacts of decisions upon other areas of the programme. Long term plans can be modified to take account of changing circumstances. They are there primarily as a guide." |
