Abstract/Contents:"The importance of applying only the highest quality topsoil to cotula bowling surfaces became painfully apparent to many greenkeepers in the Auckland region in the summer of 1990/91. The heartache many greenkeepers endured attempting to keep cotula alive over that particular summer was attributed to the poor quality topdressing soil applied over the preceding autumn and spring." Related topics include: Soil selection: colour, weed seed load, stone content, structure, smell, contamination with debris, soil texture, aggregate strength; Soil topdressing: frequency, timing, soil removal and replacement.
