| Abstract/Contents: | "Turf sports grounds should be planned, constructed, managed and cared for in a way that they can function properly, but they should also be in harmony with the environment in order to guarantee their existence in settled areas, in landscapes close to settlements and particularly in areas which are sensible from an ecological point of view. Particular attention should be paid, in this connection, to the principles of soil and water protection and the use of water in the management in an ecologically sensible manner. ...." This particular part of the article deals primarily with the nutrient supply through fertilization, stressing the vast importance of informed, attentive nitrate fertilizing, and the benefits that follow such a fertilization regimin. Factors that effect the levels of nitrates needed, such as the surface construction, climate, age and condition of the site as well as the intensity of its use are outlined, along with the various fertilizers and nitrate levels. Guidelines are established as to proper fertilization for both maintenance and regeneration of turf grasses, and charts and outlines stating the specific nutrient needs of the various ares of a golf course are given. |
