| Abstract/Contents: | Discusses the growing concern over decreases in the availability of fresh water and stresses measures for water conservation on turf facilities in nine basic steps. 1) Establish watering priorities 2) Follow sound irrigation practices 3) Reduce, or avoid wher possible, other causes of stress 4) Alter major cultural practices 5) Expand use of mulch 6) Erect wind barriers 7) Experiment with anti-transpirants 8) Treat each day as if you were in a period of severe drought 9) Aggressively seek additional or alternate sources of water Planning should be done now to cope with future water shortages. |
