Abstract/Contents: | Discusses golf course design, which in the author's mind should more appropriately be called golf course architecture. Comprehensive planning is stressed with an emphasis on seedbed preparation, incorporation of natural environments, larger greens and teeing areas for increased traffic, and consideration of long term maintenance efficiency. The need to look back at concepts of strategic and penal play, forced carries, undulating fairways, and dramatic greens is also discussed. |
