Abstract/Contents:Describes technique of sportsfield drainage involving injection of compacted sand into nine inch deep slits cut into the soil on a criss cross pattern. Slits spaced at 13" intervals with mini (25mm) drain lines running along the bottom of the slits into collector drain tiles effectively drain excessive surface water at a rapid rate. The Cambridge system costs 1/4 to 1/3 of what total renovation of an athletic field may cost and does not disrupt the use of the turf very much.
