| Abstract/Contents: | Reports results of a five year study begun in May 1978 to determine long-term persistence of improved cultivars of thirteen Kentucky bluegrasses and twelve perennial ryegrasses on the campus of Oregon State University. Plots (5ft x 5ft) were replicated three times and randomized in an area that received full summer sun and partial to full winter shade along with uniformly heavy foot traffic. The perennial ryegrasses retained a high percentage of purity, while the Kentucky bluegrasses all became infested with creeping bentgrass and perennial ryegrass. Nine perennial ryegrasses retained 95% or better purity of stand whereas only Sydsport at 53.3% purity topped the 40% level of purity for all bluegrasses tested. Final readings were taken on 10/5/82. |
