Abstract/Contents:"Fungicides were applied with a CO² pressurized (35 psi) sprayer equipped with a flat-fan (8010) nozzle, and calibrated to deliver 2.5 gal water per 1000ft₂. Treatments were applied initially on 20 Jun when mean blight damage ranged from 1 to 5% per plot. The fungicides were reapplied on 5 Jul. Soil was a Chillum silt loam with a pH of 6.2 and 2.7% OM. Turf was mowed to a height of 0.75 in., fertilized with 3.0 lb N/1000ft₂/yr, and irrigated to prevent drought stress. Plots were 5 x 5 ft, and were arranged in a randomized complete block with four replicates. Percent of plot area blighted was assessed visually on a linear 0 to 100% scale where 0 = no blight and 100 = entire plot area blighted. Blight ratings exceeding 5% would be considered unacceptable for a golf course fairway. Disease pressure was initially moderate, but reached the severe level by mid-Jul. One week following treatment blight ratings increased slightly in fungicide-treated plots, but then declined during a break in the weather between 5 and 12 Jul. On 5 Jul (date of second spray) and 12 Jul, all treatments were providing acceptable brown patch control. By 19 Jul (14 days after second spray), Aliette + Fore-treated plots had become severely blighted, but Chipco 26019-treated turf was marginally acceptable. ProStar + Bayleton, however, provided excellent control as late as 22 days following (i.e. 27 Jul) the second spray. Residual control of Chipco 26019 had dissipated by 27 Jul. On 2 Aug, blight ratings were unacceptable in all treated plots, and data did not vary significantly from untreated plots." A table is presented which includes information regarding treatment and rate per thousand square feet as well as percentage of plot area blighted by R. solani, categorized by date.
