Abstract/Contents: | "Three pots of common bermudagrass (Maya) were established per treatment per rep in 2019 in Athens, GA to conduct a time-lapse destructive harvest 2, 4, and 6 weeks after seeding (WAS). Treatments were applied with a shaker jar or syringe and consisted of a non-treated check, ProveN (contains Azospirillum) at 5 L ha-1, 18-24-12 fertilizer at 24 or 48 kg N ha-1, and ProveN + fertilizer at 24 or 48 kg N ha-1. The greatest shoot biomass 2 WAS was observed in response to ProveN + 24 kg N (0.295 g; 528% increase from the check) followed by (fb) ProveN alone (0.287 g; 511% increase from the check) fb ProveN + 48 kg N (0.19 g; 304% increase from check). The 24 and 48 kg fertility treatments resulted in 0.107 g (128% increase from check) and 0.065 g (38% increase from the check), respectively, 2 WAS. The greatest root biomass 2 WAS was observed in response to ProveN + 24 kg N (0.092 g; 608% increase from the check) fb ProveN alone (0.088 g; 577% increase from the check) fb ProveN + 48 kg N (0.055 g; 323% increase from the check). The 24 and 48 kg fertility treatments resulted in 0.038 g (192% increase from the check) and 0.027 g (108% increase from the check), respectively, 2 WAS. ProveN + 48 kg N resulted in the greatest shoot biomass 6 WAS (21.0 g) fb ProveN + 24 kg N (19.7 g) fb fertilizer alone at 48 kg N (19.2 g) fb ProveN alone (18.1 g). Fertilizer alone (24 kg N) resulted in shoot biomass less than the non-treated check (17.7 g) 6 WAS. The greatest root biomass was observed in response to ProveN alone (8.5 g) fb ProveN + 48 and 24 kg N (8.1 and 8.0 g, respectively)." |
