Abstract/Contents:"Speed is a very important factor in turfgrass establishment. Two of the easiest ways to increase establishment speed is by increasing the rate of seed applied or by using fertilizer. Carpetgrass is warm season stoloniferous turfgrass that is known for poor seedling vigor. However, fertilization can help with establishment speed. Any application of nitrogen fertilizer increased the percent ground cover of seedling carpetgrass. The increased cover from nitrogen applications was in part weeds that were more prevalent than carpetgrass grown with no nitrogen."
