Abstract/Contents: | "Prior to 1978, no biosolids generated in Columbus, Ohio, were being beneficially used. Today, that scenario is significantly different, with an integrated wastewater residuals management program based on beneficial use. The integrated approach enables the city to not put all of its biosolids eggs in one basket. Four programs comprise the integrated plan that leads directly or indirectly to beneficial use of residuals. These include land application of anaerobically digested biosolids; alkaline stabilization; compositing; and utilization of flume sand produced by biosolids incineration." |
