| Abstract/Contents: | This report compares differences in turfgrass quality and rate of spring greenup among four commercially available St. Augustinegrass cultivars and six experimental selections. Typically, a minimum of 6 years assessment at various locations is required to obtain reliable field evaluations of turfgrass cultivars. Several of the experimental selections were not planted until August 1986; thus, no final conclusions concernig the overall performance can be made until this period of observation is completed. Visual estimates of turfgrass quality were made on a monthly basis by two scientists. The quality estimates were based on a composite of two primary componenets: (a) uniformity of appearance and (b) shoot density. |
