Abstract/Contents:A total of 26 different zoysiagrasses were planted to a linear gradient irrigation system in 1987 to: 1) determine the minimum amount of supplemental irrigation required to maintain turf for soil and water conservation and stabilization, and 2) determine the minimum amount of water required for acceptable turf performance. The objectives of the winter study were to evaluate the fall color, winter green color retention, frost injury, and ability of the grassses to maintain a monoculture stand. Objectives of the summer study were to evaluate the green cover retention and turf quality of the grass under drought conditions.
