Abstract/Contents: | Because of the complex nature of the urban environment, little research has been done to quantify effects of the urban environment on water use by vegetation or to determine water requirements for maintaining urban landscapes. We conducted a study to explore how instantaneous and daily water use of shrubs may be affected by energy exchange with adjacent building walls. Peak transpiration in plants adjacent to wall occurred when direct beam solar radiation and wall temperatures were at there maxima. |
