| USGA Summary Points: | Spring applications of ethephon (Proxy) reduced core cultivation recovery time in 2 out of 3 years, indicating that spring seedhead control programs with ethephon should continue through cultivation events. Timing of trinexapac-ethyl (TE; Primo Maxx) had an inconsistent effect on cultivation recovery in the spring but withholding TE applications within 200 GDD prior to cultivation generally decreased recovery time. Trinexapac-ethyl and ethephon application in the fall had little effect on cultivation recovery; Turfgrass managers can continue PGR programs during fall cultivation without fear of increasing recovery time. Gibberellic acid treatments caused excessive growth/scalping and should be avoided on annual bluegrass putting greens. |
