USGA Summary Points:Three surfactant classes (alkylpolyglucoside, organosilicone, and an anionic blend) showed insecticidal activity on their own and in combination with a pyrethroid (bifenthrin) against adult annual bluegrass weevil (ABW) in dose-response petri dish assays. One surfactant class (block copolymer + alkylpolyglucoside) showed no insecticidal activity on its own against ABW but had a significant increase in mortality when in combination with bifenthrin. All combinations of surfactants with bifenthrin showed an additive effect in mortality of ABW, but no synergistic combinations were observed. Overall, P450 activity did not appear to be influenced by bifenthrin exposure. Only ABW treated with the combination of the block copolymer + alkylpolyglucoside and bifenthrin showed a significant reduction in P450 activity when compared to the high dose of bifenthrin.
