USGA Summary Points:Plots at each of the research facilities were planted in the late summer and fall of 2021. Coho, Shark, and Penncross were planted at each location to represent high, medium, and low levels of dollar spot resistance. Treatments that included regular dew removal and the use of Zio biological fungicide were initiated in May of 2022 and continued through August 2022 and then trial was repeated in May through August of 2023. Annual bluegrass control was initiated at each location and all locations reported significant reductions in the amount of annual bluegrass present. In 2022 the primary issue across locations was too much dollar spot which overwhelmed the treatments. In 2023 the primary issue across most locations outside of Rutgers was too little dollar spot as a significant drought lessened dollar spot severity across multiple regions. As in 2022, the clearest result across locations in 2023 was the increased dollar spot resistance observed with Coho compared to Shark and Penncross. Within each cultivar there were minimal statistical differences between the dew removal and biocontrol treatments.
