Abstract/Contents:"The purpose of the research reported here was to develop evidence that would help reduce unnecessary insecticide applications in urban landscapes. My goal was to demonstrate the maximum concentration of white grubs that turfgrass can tolerate without significant injury. Because there are few published techniques for this type of research, many of the devices and procedures used in the research were themselves previously untested. The research had three complementary parts. Objective I was to test sampling procedures to document the impact of white grub feeding in actual lawns across the state. Objective II was to answer the question of whether mature overwintered grubs feed sufficiently prior to pupation to justify treatment in late spring. Objective III was to determine the relationship of different numbers of artificially infested P. crinita and C. lurida white grubs to turf injury."
