Abstract/Contents: | Discusses problems that excess thatch can cause, including scalping, localized dry spots, decreased heat and cold tolerance, and pesticide ineffectiveness. Various methods of controlling thatch, such as vertical mowing, aeration, topdressing, and proper fertilization and irrigation are described. Also included is a list of common turfgrass species and their susceptibility to thatch development. |
