Abstract/Contents: | "Accurate identification of problem weed species and understanding their life cycles are the first steps in developing a turfgrass weed management plan. Traditionally, plant identification has been based on the recognition of floral and reproductive structures. The reproductive features of plants are less variable than the vegetative structures; however, in well maintained turfgrasses, mowing continually removes the floral parts and seedheads of many weed species. Turfgrass managers must be able to identify weeds on the basis of the appearance and form of the primary vegetative structures, such as leaves and stems, in order to institute timely and efficient control practices." |
