Abstract/Contents: | "In the majority of parks and gardens, there are problematic sections where it is difficult to keep a satisfactory ground cover. Many times, this is due to a lack of sufficient light for the growth of turfgrass species." Article discusses several species of ground cover that can be used in place of turfgrasses in shady areas which may not be conducive to turfgrass growth. "The advantages of using ground cover are easily deduced: they provide the possibility of covering those sections where turfgrass species are not able to grow adequately; they permit you to create attractive areas with the combination of volumes, textures, and colors; they impede the growth of weeds where they had been before; in some cases, they contribute the beauty of their flowers." |
