Abstract/Contents:"The time to save on vandalism and security costs is during planning and design, and not after the facility is constructed." Discusses five principles that are essential for designing Park and Recreation facilities to be more vandal resistant and safer for users. Also includes a checklist for crime prevention and to help reduce vadalism, covering circulation patrolling, lighting, irrigation systems and watering schedule, fencing, building structures, alarms, etc. in security system; Plumbing and electronical equipment, coin lockers and meters, etc. in unsupervised structrues.
