Abstract/Contents: | Reports on the innovative Plant Health Care Program Instituted by the Waterloo (Ontario) Parks Department. The goals of the program are to reduce pesticide use by means of proper cultural methods such as soil amendments, proper mowing practices, frequent aerification, and the use of organic fertilizers. The program also overseeded the previously existing Kentucky bluegrass in favor of more drought tolerant perennial ryegrasses and tall fescues. Also discussed are the differences between a Plant Health Care Program and Integrated Pest Management. |
