Abstract/Contents: | Profiles Halifax's Geographic Information System, a graphical database which uses computers to map out virtually every geographic element of the city, including property lines, streets, sidewalks, curbs, buildings, underground structures like sewers, and trees. Halifax's urban planners "will be able to take into consideration the location of city trees when planning and designing other city infrastructure. This should help to greatly reduce potential damage to trees by considering them before new utilities, roads, and other construction takes place." |
