Abstract/Contents: | Mike Hamilton discusses his on-the-job training program. The students he instructs are given the opportunity to perform every task involved with greenkeeping, including being exposed to the administrative aspects of the job. Hamilton has set up an intensive mentoring program much like the ones he experienced when he was a student. "I believe I learned more on my O.J.T.s [on-the-job training] than I ever learned in the classroom. [On-the-job] instruction best prepared me to be a superintendent when I graduated." |
