| Abstract/Contents: | "Fungicide treatments were evaluated at the Experimental Green, South Golf Course, Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN. The turf area received conventional golf course care and was maintained at 0.25 in height. Treatments were applied to 3.3 X 6.6 ft plots arranged in a randomized complete block design with 3 replications. Treatments were applied with a hand held CO2-pressurized sprayer with 11003 LP flat fan nozzles at 22 psi and at a rate of 2 gal/1000 sq ft. All treatments were first applied on 2 Jul with additional treatments based on 7, 14, 21 and 28 day spray intervals. Treatment applications were discontinued after 29 Jul. Disease ratings were made on 22 and 29 Jul, and 18 Aug. Temperatures were below normal in Jun and Jul, then above normal in Aug. Rainfall was above normal in Jun and Jul, but normal in Aug. Brown patch development from natural infection began about 15 Jul. Disease increased rapidly and remained at moderate levels from late Jul through Aug. Twelve of 36 treatments consistently suppressed the development of almost all disease for the entire testing period. Aliette 80WDG 4.0 oz, Curalan 50DF 2.0 oz, Pro Star 50WP 1.0 oz, and Pro Star 50WP 2.0 oz. were the least effective treatments for the control of brown patch at the tested rates and spray intervals. No phytotoxicity was observed." |
