| Abstract/Contents: | "Fungicide treatments were evaluated on an experimental bentgrass green at the Turf Field Center, NCSU, Raleigh, NC. The bentgrass was sodded in early spring and maintained at a 0.25 in height. Air temperature on days of application averaged 87 F. Treatments were arranged in a randomized complete block design with four replications; plots were 5 ft by 5 ft. All treatments were applied with a 12 volt diaphragm pump sprayer at 40 psi using 8004 VP flat-fan Teejet nozzles at a rate of 2.5 gal water/1000 ft2. Treatments were initiated on 25 Jun and repeated on corresponding 14 or 28 day intervals. Turf color, overall turf quality, and percentage of plot infected by brown patch were rated periodically. Conditions for disease development were moderate during the test period. Tank mixtures of Aliette 80WDG at 4 oz plus Fore 80WP at 8 oz as well as Aliette 80WDG at 4 oz plus Daconil 90WDG at 6 oz had superior turf quality ratings. These mixtures appear to be controlling Pythium root and crown rot and brown patch in improved turf quality ratings. Slight yellowing was evident in plots treated with Prostar at 4 oz following some applications." |
