Abstract/Contents:"This evaluation was conducted at the Valentine Turfgrass Research Center, University Park, PA, on creeping bentgrass maintained under golf course greens management conditions, at 0.16 inch cutting height. The test area was fertilized on 29 Apr with 1.0 lb nitrogen per 1000 sq ft (Scotts 12-2-4), on 11 May with 0.9 lb nitrogen per 1000 sq ft (Scotts 15-0-30), and on 22 May with 0.9 lb nitrogen per 1000 sq ft (Lesco 32-3-10). The experimental area was aerified and topdressed on 12-13 May. Individual plots, 3 ft x 10 ft, were arranged in a randomized complete block design with three replications. Treatments were applied with a CO2-powered boom sprayer, using Teejet 8004 nozzles, at 30 psi, in water equivalent to 2 gal per 1000 sq ft. Applications were made on 2, 16, and 30 Jun, and 13 Jul, except as noted in the table. Brown patch was evaluated on 15 Jul. Data obtained were subjected to analysis of variance and Duncan's Multiple Range test. Disease pressure was intense during the July infection period. Greater than 90% control of brown patch was provided by Daconil, Sentinel, the methoxyacrylate fungicide, ICIA5504, alone and in combination, and seven of the sixteen reduced-rate mixtures. These mixtures, plus individual mixture components at the rates used in the mixtures, appear in the results table in bold italics, preceded by an asterix (*). Phytotoxicity was noted throughout the trial on plots treated with Sentinel, the 1.5 fl oz rate of Rubigan, and mixtures containing the adjuvant, Silwet. The gaps in the disease severity values result from the fact that a number of fungicides being evaluated under confidentiality ageements were included in this trial. Data from these fungicides are not included in the table."
