Abstract/Contents:"Five fungicides were applied to plots of bentgrass for control of dollar spot in creeping bentgrass. Plots were irrigated daily for a total of 1.5 inches of water per week and were maintained at a golf green height. No fertilizer or herbicides were applied. Fungicides were applied using a CO2 - pressurized (25 psi) backpack sprayer with a flat fan nozzle to 5 x 5 ft plots. The sprayer was calibrated to deliver 5 gal spray solution per 1000 sq ft. Each fungicide was applied on 30 Jun and again on 30 Jul. Four replications per treatment were arranged in a randomized complete block design. Precipitation was above normal from Apr through Sep. Temperatures were below normal, with warm days and cool nights creating long dew periods. Disease development was from natural inoculum. Dollar spot developed rapidly from early Jul to early Sep. With some exceptions, all fungicide treatments controlled dollar spot. Banner 1.1E and Bayleton 25DF kept disease severity to less than 25 percent. Lynx 25DF was intermediate in its ability to control dollar spot. The effectiveness of the systemic fungicides Banner, Bayleton and Lynx was still evident one month after the last application, whereas disease in plots treated with Daconil 2787 and Chipco 26019 increased to a high level. No phytotoxicity was observed."
