Abstract/Contents:"The perennial ryegrass stand was seeded in May 1993 and fungicides were applied 23 Jun, and 7 and 21 Jul 1993. Some R. solani blighting was evident when the study was initiated on 23 Jun. Treatments were applied with CO2 pressurized (36 psi) sprayer calibrated to deliver 2.5 gal water per 1000 ft2. Soil was a Chillum silt loam with a pH of 5.9 and 2.7% OM. Plots were 5 by 5 ft, and were arranged in a randomized complete block with four replications. Percent of plot area blighted was assessed visually on a linear 0 to 100% scale where 0 = entire plot area green and 100 = entire plot area blighted. Treatments with ratings exceeding 5% blighting for a spring-seeded stand would be considered to have provided unacceptable control. Disease intensity reached a severe level in mid-Jul, but declined rapidly to a very low level of activity in late Jul. Blighting increased in intensity from 6 to 19 Jul, and initially (i.e., 6 Jul) there were no differences among treatments in blight level. On 12 Jul, disease pressure was moderate and acceptable control for a spring seeded stand was being provided by Rubigan + Curalan (1.0 + 1.0 fl oz), TwoSome, and ProStar treatments. By 19 Jul, disease pressure had reached the severe range, and all treatments had reduced brown patch significantly. Rubigan + Curalan (1.0- + 0.70 fl. oz) and ProStar were providing excellent brown patch control. During the following 2 wk period, brown patch pressure dropped rapidly to a very low level and plots showed a large degree of recovery from injury by 3 Aug. Treatments associated with low residual brown patch injury on the last rating date were Rubigan + Fore (1.0 + 3.52 oz), Rubigan + Curalan (both rates), and ProStar + Bayleton."
