Abstract/Contents: | Discusses the practical difficulties of buying back playing fields which were sold in the 1980's. Many have been developed by their purchasers and restoring them would be costly, if they could be bought back. Don Earley of the National Playing Fields Association states, "Even if fields are reinstated, the great loss of skilled staff over the years makes us worry that there will no longer be a pool of the right people available to maintain them. If [the Government] is sincere in its intent, we would like them to put a moratorium on selling any more sports facilities so we can reasses the situation." |
