Abstract/Contents:Includes: Conclusion of article dealing with the most prevalent, most pathogenic fungal diseases of turf grasses. Provides detailed, patterened information regarding the pathogens Bipolaris sorokiniana, Drechslera dictyoides, Drechslera poae, Drechslera siccans, and Curvularia spp. - outlining their anatomy and biological processes, listing the grasses they most commonly affect, stating the weather and soil conditions most favorable to the diseases, as well as elucidating both their macroscopic and microscopic visible symptoms. The author stresses the importance that abiological factors have on the outbreaks of a fungal disease, and that the best method of combatting the disease is in the preventive measures taken. Knowledge of which fungi are most likely to thrive under which conditions can aid in early diagnosis of a disease, microscopic samples being often necessary to confirm or specify such diagnosis. Early and accurate identification of the fungal disease provides the best chances for combatting it further with chemical means.
