Abstract/Contents: | Details a public outreach program in Pinellas County, Florida. The "Don't Bag It!" program involved commercial and homeowner volunteers who were to either collect their grass clippings or return them to the lawn. At the end of the study, volunteers were sent a survey, 23% of which were returned. 85% of those returning clippings said that their yard looked healthier, and 55% were using less water on their yard at the end of the project. The commercial participants found that they saved as much as 50% in mowing time, which used less fuel and less labor as well as solid waste tipping fees. |
