Abstract/Contents: | "One of the most widespread diseases attacking seeding turf in the fall is Pythium. Contractors should be aware of conditions that invite this disease, which can wipe out a new lawn before you can take action to stop it. Pythium needs warm humid weather, over-fertilizered, low-cut and thatchy turf, and too much irrigation and/or poor drainage to destroy any species of turfgrass. You can't change the weather, but you can correct the other factors encouraging the disease." Discusses the symptoms of Pythium and the steps to take to correct the conditions which can cause infection. |
