Abstract/Contents:"Most golf courses are environmental assests to their communities. Courses actually conserve precious water resources by serving as recharge sites for replenishing groundwater, many support wetlands, and others serve as wildlife sanctuaries and arboretums promoting biological diversity. Maybe less obvious to some is the cooling and cleansing effect of living plants. Yes, plants are natural air conditioners and provide tranquility in a noisy world by absorbing sound. A golf course is indeed soothing in an otherwise hectic land of brick, mortar and asphalt. But, have you told anyone lately? When's the last time you promoted your course ... environmentally? Each of you is working on a piece of property that is more than just a place to play golf."
