Abstract/Contents:"An account of the three last [Argentinian] open championships advises one of the available technology at our disposal to substantially improve the intensity and the quality level of grounds work. In previous editions, work was done with the same impetus and dedication, but lacked the methods and equipment that we have at our disposal today, and were not able to come up to accepted standards of presentation and playing condition." Discusses whether tournament courses are maintained in a condition that is not truly fair to Argentinian golfers, and may favor foreign golfers. A point of contention is that the roughs were cut higher than most Argentinian golf course roughs, which are cut low because of the scarcity and high price of golf balls in Argentina. "It seems important to me to explain that the Association does not prepare the courses for a determinate player or group of players. It is done for the purpose of achieving the best, the ultimate within the limitations that inevitably present themselves; to achieve a truly competitive course of play, one which will shatter all our recollections."
