Abstract/Contents:"As many turf professionals are painfully aware, there are a number of environmental, cultural, and use ralted stresses that challenge a turf. Cultural procedures can impact the resistance of turf to stress injury. A three phase agronomic plan must be in place if you desire to maintain a high level of turf performance during stress conditions. Phase I is preparation or preconditioning management efforts. This entails both long term cultural preparations and thos procedures timed to occur just prior to the onset of stress. Phase II involved your management options during the stress, [which] are largely directed at stress avoidance or protection from secondary source injury. Phase III is the recovery or healing process once stress conditions cease. With the stress removed, renovation procedures (e.g. fertilization, coring, spiking, slicing, etc.) become viable options."
