Abstract/Contents: | Discusses the need of finding more durable plants for grueling summer. "These long-lasting annuals or perennials have many similar qualities. They are heat tolerant, drought tolerant, and some even withstand the daily downpours of the subtropics." Also discusses three basic cultural requirements for any flower garden to grow during a grueling summer: adding organic matter to the soil before planting your color bed, sound water management, and purchasing only the plants that are acclimated and established. Introduces 17 annuals and perennials for a punishing, torturous summer. |
