Abstract/Contents:"Localized Dry Spot [LDS] is a relatively new term that is applied to severe occurrences within restricted areas of a number of different conditions that have been around since time immemorial. Though there are different understandings of the term LDS in different areas, Localized Dry Spot, always has its origines in soil conditions discouraging or preventing the existence of capillary soil moisture in the root zone." Presents elementary terminogy of soil science and moisture interaction. Discusses the causes of Localized Dry Spot, LDS management tools and what any given turf manager should do.
